A Jewel of Luxury in Lucerne
As with every Mandarin Oriental property, the Lucerne location was chosen with the utmost care, perfectly positioned to showcase the most captivating charm of Switzerland—the breathtaking view of a serene lake framed by majestic mountains. Nestled on the tranquil shores of the Vierwaldstättersee, this luxurious retreat masterfully blends the warmth of Swiss hospitality with the sophisticated elegance that Mandarin Oriental is renowned for. Offering an exquisite mix of natural beauty, historical richness, and contemporary luxury, this iconic hotel stands as an unrivaled destination in the heart of Switzerland.
The hotel’s prime position along the corniche places it within easy walking distance of Lucerne’s most cherished cultural and historical sites. We found ourselves just moments away from the iconic Chapel Bridge, the poignant Lion Monument, and the enchanting Old Town. This proximity allowed us to explore the rich heritage of Lucerne at our own pace, all while knowing that the luxurious comfort of our hotel awaited us just steps away.
One of the highlights of our stay was the dining experience at the hotel. We indulged in authentic Swiss flavors prepared with the freshest local ingredients, each meal a true reflection of the region’s culinary traditions. A particularly memorable evening was spent at MINAMO, the hotel’s Japanese restaurant. Here, only eight guests are seated at the bar, where the chef personally prepares eight exquisite dishes right before your eyes, offering a detailed explanation of Japanese culinary history and the unique qualities of each ingredient. The immersive atmosphere made it much more than just a meal—it was a cultural journey.
Yet, the culinary adventure didn’t end there. Just a five-minute stroll from the hotel led us to the Old Swiss House, home to the oldest Schnitzel restaurant in Switzerland—another must-visit for anyone eager to experience traditional cuisine at its finest.

The MO Brasserie is a chic venue where classic French cuisine is reimagined with contemporary flair. Our recommendation is to order the focaccia with the quinoa salad mixed with edamame and the variety of starters-each more delicious than the previous.
